City Hardware began with an idea in January 2007: to bring back to Seattle’s city core a neighborhood hardware store, so city-dwellers - like me - would have their own hardware store right in their backyard.

4 months later, in April, the perfect location was found.  (Of course, our current location!)  A month after then, a lease was signed!...
On July 22, the keys to the space were handed over, and the real work began!
Old single door entrance
New double door entrance
With keys freshly in hand!  (I’m in deep now...)
First, a wide-open new entrance!...
Gutting the old, including tons of steam radiators long since used.
Get a good, last sniff, Bear - that old carpeting is about to be removed!
No more carpet, or radiators!  But a floor in unexpectedly poor condition.  :(
Constructing the boss’s office!  (Uhm...that would be Bear.)
New tile floors!  (We opted for a random pattern, other than the vintage checkerboard entrance!)
August, 2007 - Opening soon!
30,000 lbs. of fixtures to install!
Ready and waiting for the first customers!
Helping some first customers - human and canine.
Celebrating!  Even Bear is proud!
Sep 24, 2007 - OPEN at last!!!  (and with a freshly painted exterior!)
Now...how to let everyone know we’re here!
